Wiltshire Council have suggested planting a beech hedge. The parish would have to pay for the removal of the wooden fence and planting of the hedge at a quoted cost of £1,400. Wiltshire Council would then maintain the hedge.

Introduction of the new bus service has been delayed because one of the operators of service 68 has pulled out. WC is currently in the process of securing a replacement operator to continue the service from 2nd July. The replacement service will commence on 2nd July operating via Cottles Barton along with the other trips currently operated on bus 68 by Libra Travel.

It is also possible that at the same time, the Bath shoppers bus services X88 and 64 will go through the Waterside estate as well, provided this doesn’t inconvenience anyone who currently boards the bus at the Kings Arms.

The 64 bus is Fridays only. It picks up from the Old Bear at 09:24 arriving in Bath at 10:00. The return leaves Bath at 12:40.

The X88 runs on Wednesdays: Thestfield Drive at 10:01 and The Old Bear at 10:03. It arrives in Bath at 10:35 and returns at 13:35.

Following the speed limit review on A and B roads in the County Wiltshire Council is now going ahead with a £500,000 programme of implementing the changes, most of which involve reductions in legal limits.

In our area the advertisements and legal processes begin with publication of the notices in the Wiltshire Times next week (Friday 18th). The consultation closes on June 11th. If all goes well, implementation will be in September.

The roads covered by the consultation are the B3106 Tollgate to Nestle’s road, which will have a 40mph limit, and the B3109 in South Wraxall, where the existing 50mph limit will be extended northwards to cover the two South Wraxall junctions.

Changes to the B3105 from Forewoods Common to Staverton (50mph), and the B3107 Bradford to Holt (50), are due to go through the process at a later date, probably beginning in June.
